NEW KNITTERS (EVERY TUESDAY EVENING)

Have you always wanted to learn to knit, or did you stop knitting for a bit and now need a refresher? Come to New Knitters on Tuesday! We'll help you pick out a great pattern - we have scarves, hats and more. Then, choose any of our beautiful yarn in your favorite color. We'll walk you through every step of the project. The class is free if you buy your yarn at The Wool Cabin. 

Tuesday evenings from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm - this is a drop in class.

 GERMAN SHORT ROWS

Instructor: Marie 

Tuesday, September 17th from 6-8pm

Have fun learning German Short Rows while knitting these great felted coasters!  Short rows are used in so many lovely designs, but they can be difficult to do correctly. Marie will walk you through the tips and tricks of doing short rows perfectly. Pssst! The coasters are also great Christmas Gifts!

FALL KNIT ALONG

BEGINNING SOCKS

Instructor: Marie

September 18th and October 2nd & 9th, from 6-8pm

Marie will teach you all the tips and tricks needed to knit beautiful socks that FIT!!  You'll learn the anatomy of sock, and how to knit each part to create perfect hand knit socks every time. In this class, you'll be knitting a pair of lounge socks in worsted weight yarn, so don't worry about trying to learn a new skill with tiny double point needles!

BEGINNING KNITTER'S COWL

KNITTING 911 - FIXING MISTAKES

It's 9:30 at night, you look at your knitting and see a mistake 4 rows back. No one is available to help. Now what???? Do you have to pull it all out? Maybe not! Learn how to fix your mistakes with Sally. You'll pick up dropped stitches, change a knit to a purl, or a purl to a knit and lots more!

 KNIT A FAIR ISLE SWEATER 

Instructor: Lisa Sewell

October 7th, 21st / November 4th, 18th / December 2nd, 16th / January 6th, & 20th

From 6 until 8pm

In this semester-long series we’ll be knitting a Fair Isle Sweater.  You select the design – cardigan, pullover, vest and Lisa will guide you along through the all the elements needed to complete your project.  In this class, we’ll cover the specific techniques used in Fair Isle knitting – including setting up your project, swatching, rib, steeks, cutting and finishing work. This class is suitable for advanced knitters experienced with two-color stranded knitting techniques. 

Monday, October 7th 4:30-9pm – Trunk Show and Social.  We’ll be on hand to help students pick their patterns and get yarn ordered.   

Class Fee: $140 (Eight Sessions)

There will be a 10% discount on yarn purchased the night of October 7th. Students must have a pattern and yarn before the first class on October 21st.

BEGINNING KNITTING AND BEYOND

Instructor: Lisa Sewell

Saturday October 12th and 19th, from 10:00 am until 1:00 pm

In this six-hour workshop we’ll cover all the basic techniques used in knitting. We'll be making a sampler of a variety of stitches – knit, purl, seed, rib.  You’ll learn how to cast on, how to knit both English and Continental Methods, how to increase, decrease, bind off and correct mistakes. In this class, we’ll also cover types of yarns and needles, how to read a pattern, different styles of sweaters and the importance of gauge. The goal of this class is to provide students with a strong base and command of knitting so they are confident to begin a simple project.

BEGINNING TWO COLOR KNITTING

Instructor: Lisa Sewell

November 2nd & 9th, from 10am until 1pm

This workshop is suited for beginning knitters interested in delving into knitting with two-colors.  You’ll master carrying 2 (and 3!) colors using the English and Continental methods, catching colors, introducing new colors, weaving in and splicing techniques. Learn how to do intarsia and duplicate stitch, read charts, and explore how using colors impacts the structural design of Icelandic, Norwegian and Fair Isle sweaters.

KNIT A HOLIDAY STOCKING

Instructor: Lisa Sewell

Saturday, November 16th & 30th, from 10am until 1pm

Get ready for the holidays! This class is designed for students who have taken the Two-Color Knitting Class or are skilled at knitting with two colors.  We’ll put the techniques learned in that class to use in this easy, two-color project.  Students will continue to hone their two-color knitting skills while learning a provisional cast on, turning a heel, mastering double point needles, and making an I-cord so you can hang your stocking above the fireplace. You’ll have an opportunity to personalize your stocking and select from a variety of motifs to make it your own unique stocking!
